Obituary

Arthur Celestan Lee Sr. was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, to Rodella Pierre (Caston) and John A. Lee Sr., where he spent his early childhood surrounded by family and culture. Later, his family relocated to Kansas City—a place he would grow to call home and where much of his life story would unfold.

At a young age, Arthur met the love of his life, Juanita Qualls, and together they began building a beautiful family. From that union came four children: Artoria Lee, Arthur Lee Jr., Ieisha Bailey, and Ebony Qualls. Of all his accomplishments, nothing brought Arthur more pride than his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren—his greatest legacy.

Arthur was preceded in death by his mother, father, and stepfather (Ronald Caston Sr.). Siblings that preceded him in death were, Patricia Lee, John A. Lee Jr., William Douglas Lee, & Ronmarie Caston. Nephew, William Laron Caston

He leaves behind a loving and growing family that will forever cherish his memory, including his grandchildren: Korey King, Sammie Bailey, Samya Bailey, Brandon Evans Jr., Nicholas Ayers Jr., A’Dyn Qualls-Lee, Blake Evans, ToRion Smith, MyLo Lee, MaRlo Lee, Mar’Lee McCraney, and Maxximuz McCraney; and his great-grandsons, Ky’Mir King and Jakhi King.

Arthur is also survived by his beloved siblings, Tammy Lee and Ronald Caston Jr., who will miss him dearly.

Arthur was more than a man—he was a teacher of life. He had a unique way of turning his personal experiences into powerful stories, always leaving those around him with a lesson, a laugh, or something to think about. His wisdom wasn’t found in books, but in the life he lived and the truths he shared.

Over the years, Arthur worked in many industries, but he truly made his mark in the food and hospitality world. Wherever he went, he stood out—not just for his work ethic, but for the pride he took in everything he did. He had a gift with his hands, always willing to fix, build, or lend a helping hand to anyone in need.

One of Arthur’s greatest passions was his time as a pit master at Gates BBQ, where he worked for 10 years. To Arthur, it was never just a job—it was something he poured his heart into, something he mastered, and something people will always remember him for being the Gates finest PITT-MASTER

Arthur’s life was one of resilience, love, and purpose. Though he is no longer with us in the physical, his voice, his lessons, his laughter, and his love will live on through every life he touched.

All in All, we all wish we could hear him come around that corner one more time yelling “EEERREYEEET” !

He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten
