Obituary

Clyde O. Carter, Jr., age 59, passed away peacefully on June 5, 2026, at Rainbow Hospice in Des Plaines, Illinois. Born on November 16, 1966, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Clyde was the beloved son of Clyde O. Carter, Sr., and Linda Carter.

 He grew up with a strong sense of service, determination, and devotion to family that would define his life. A proud graduate of Southeast High School’s Class of 1985, Clyde dedicated much of his life to serving his country and community. He honorably served in the United States Army, the United States Navy, and the Kansas National Guard. His military career included notable achievements as a sniper and earning a Presidential Security Clearance. Clyde was also recognized as a 1988 Olympic Boxer, reflecting his discipline, strength, and competitive spirit. 

Throughout his professional career, Clyde worked for Kansas City Southern Railroad, BNSF Railway, and the United States Postal Service, where he was respected for his work ethic and commitment. Clyde was a faithful member of Gethsemane New Testament Baptist Church. He enjoyed entertaining family and friends, sharing laughter through his love of comedy, and spending hours watching crime television programs. His warm personality, sense of humor, and ability to bring joy to others will be remembered by all who knew him.

 He was preceded in death by his brother, Tracy Bowie of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; and sisters, Deborah R. Carter-Johnson and Tinikia L. Hamp. 

Clyde leaves to cherish his memory: his devoted wife, Sherry A. Carter; children, Clyde O. Carter III (Kayreauna Carter), TaSharra Carter, JoLeasa Pitts (Leon Pitts), Kori Carter, Christian Carter, and Milan Carter; grandchildren, Londyn Carter, Jaidyn Carter, Raylen Hamler, Rayven Hamler, Cirr Carter, Dior King, Zayvion Carter, ZyAirre Carter, and Keirah Racey; siblings, Noel Carter, Erick Carter, and Michelle Carter; along with a host of extended family members, friends, military brothers and sisters, church family, and loved ones.
