David Leslie Summers, 77, of Independence, Missouri, passed away Sunday, July 6, 2025, at Centerpoint Medical Center in Independence. David was born July 14, 1947, in Seattle, Washington. He lived in Kansas City, Kansas, most of his life. He attended Washington High School and graduated in 1965. He enlisted in the U.S. Amy in 1966 and served for 3 years including 2 tours in Vietnam. He was an aircraft mechanic and crewman and was awarded several commendations for his service in Vietnam. He was an extraordinary upholsterer by trade and he loved what he did. He not only upholstered furniture but he also restored antiques prior to upholstering them. His work was featured in a magazine article as an example of his true artistry. He is survived by son David Matthew Summers; son Michael Daniel Summers and his wife Amanda; sisters Susan E. Welker and Ardis A. Pierron and her husband Mike; and grandsons Chase Summers and Chance Summers. He was a beloved son, brother, father and grandfather and will be sadly missed.
