Derrick DeWayne Rhodes,  son of  Reginald J. Rhodes Jr. and Christy Watkins, was born on March 4, 1993 in Kansas City, Missouri.

Derrick was preceded in death by an unborn child, Maternal Grandmother Jennie V. Harris, Maternal Great Grandmothers Lizzie Davis and Allie Glee Watkins Davis, Paternal Great Grandmothers Constance Cowans and Helen Rhodes, Maternal Great Grandfather Rudolph Rhodes, cousins Kevin Rhodes, Jesse Cowans, Alan Shelton, Constance Starr, Craig Cowans, Willard (Tony) Brown, Fred Williams, Tondre Turner III., Bonus Brothers Eugene (RaShaud) Wheeler, Mauliek Taylor, Giovanni McGill.

Derrick grew up in Kansas City, Missouri. He graduated from Ruskin High School in 2011. After high school he attended Longview Community College in Kansas City, Missouri studying Mechanical Engineering.

Derrick began working for City of KCMO Water Department as a Maintenance Worker, where he worked for 5 years. He also worked for Martin Trucking and Total Wine until his death. Derrick was well known for his charismatic and infectious smile. He loved playing basketball and had a great passion working on cars.

Derrick leaves to cherish his memories his one and only Daughter AiLani Rhodes, Mother Christy Watkins, Father, Reginald Rhodes Jr., Maternal Grandfather Earnest Watkins Sr., Paternal Grandmother Donna Rhodes,  Paternal Grandfather Reginald Rhodes Sr., Sisters, Chantenae (Nae Nae) Butler and Reg'Janae Rhodes, Brothers  Reginald Rhodes III., Dy'Von Mitchell-Phillips, Aunt Kimberly Rhodes, uncle Earnest Watkins Jr., Niece Aubriie Lenore, Nephews Amauri and Armon Lenore. Bonus Sisters Yolonda (Naray) McGill and Regina, Bonus Brothers DyShawn, Terrion, Dre'Quan Mitchell-Phillips and a host of other relatives and friends.
