IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Evelyn Jacinta
Brock
February 11, 1983 – February 11, 2026
Evelyn Jacinta Hamlett-Brock was called home to be with the Lord on February 11, 2026, her 43rd birthday. She was born in Kansas City, Missouri, on February 11, 1983, to Raymond Eugene Hamlett and LaVera Denise Banks. Evelyn accepted Christ at an early age at Skylight Baptist Church, where she was also a member and sang joyfully in the Angel Choir. Later, she attended Bethlehem Antioch with her mother and brothers, while occasionally joining Evangelistic Center services online. From a young age, Evelyn’s energy and spirit shone brightly. At just four years old, she joined the KC Marching Sizzlers Drill Team where she proudly performed until the age of eleven. She attended Bancroft Elementary, Ruskin High School and later graduated from Job Corps, followed by Avila University in Kansas City, Missouri, where she pursued her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and LPN license. Evelyn began working at KFC, but her true calling was in caring for others. She devoted more than 25 years to healthcare, serving as a CNA, CMT, and LPN at Grandview Manor, John Knox Village, and numerous other nursing facilities across Missouri and Kansas. While dedicating herself to her career, Evelyn also found love with Tirrell Brock Sr. The two were united in marriage on February 23, 2009, in Kansas City, Missouri, and shared over 15 beautiful years together. Their marriage was blessed with children, whom they raised with boundless love, care, and faith. Evelyn had a compassionate heart and a joyful spirit that touched everyone she met. She loved spending time with family — hosting Sunday dinners, celebrating holidays, and sharing laughter during board and card games. With her aunts Camilla and Paqueshia, they formed a dancing group called “Sugar, Spice, and Everything Nice.” Evelyn also found joy in giving, feeding the less fortunate and helping those in need whenever she could. Her family remembers her with fond laughter through many stories. Like the time her mother tried to teach her how to barbecue and she nearly set the house ablaze, or how Evelyn would call friends and family to come "rescue" her from spiders no bigger than chickpeas, when she was twelve-year-old Evelyn decided to teach herself how to drive behind the wheel like she was in a scene from Set It Off! Evelyn’s life was one of adventure, compassion, and unconditional love. She leaves behind a legacy of warmth, generosity, and strength. Though she is no longer with us in body, her laughter, love, and spirit will forever live on and in our hearts as she watches over us from heaven. She was preceded into death by Father Raymond Hamlett, Great Grandmothers Rosie Hopkins & Mary Jane Akins, Greatfather George Bank Jr., Great aunt Katherine Brown (Peach) And Sister Le’Cleia Hardy, Goddaughter Lailah Hardy. She is survived by Mother LaVera Banks. Children's Father Tirrell Brock Sr. Daughters & Sons Ke’Richa Kinney, Asia Hardy, Ty’Richa Kinney, Donnyae Ferguson, Naz’iar Ferguson, Stephonie Howard, Tirrell Brock Jr., Montavion Brock, Ava Brock and Eva Brock. Siblings Lawrence Nevels (Ennisa), ReShade Nevels, Marlisa Hamlett, Ramone Hamlett, And Eugene Hamlett. Sister/ BestFriend Cherita Briscoe.
