IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Gary
Medlock
October 1, 1953 – January 23, 2025
Gary Medlock was born on October 1, 1953, in Parsons, Kansas, to Roger Wendell "Jack" Medlock (1913-1970) and Mimi Lee Cross (1924-2020). He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Stanley Harrell, Roger Lee Medlock, his twin brother Gordon Medlock, as well as his beloved son, Brandon Green.
At a young age, Gary accepted Christ and was baptized at Christ Temple Pentecostal Church in Kansas City. When he was still a child, his family relocated to Kansas City, Missouri, where he received his education in the Kansas City Public Schools, graduating from Central High School in 1971.
After high school, Gary enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, proudly serving for four years as a Military Policeman in Thailand during the Vietnam War era. Upon returning to Kansas City, he worked for the Veterans Administration while attending Penn Valley College. During this time, he met Annette Wash, and in 1979, they welcomed their daughter, Marissa.
Gary later moved to Denver, Colorado, where he built a long and fulfilling career at the U.S. Mint, retiring after more than 30 years of service. While working tirelessly to support his family, he also pursued higher education, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management with a focus on Finance. In Denver, he married Linda Alford, and through this union, he was blessed with two more children, Rachel and Brandon.
In 2010, Gary relocated back to Kansas City to care for his twin brother, Gordon, who was battling cancer. After his return, he also took on the role of caregiver for his mother, ensuring she was supported until her passing in 2020. Gary was a caretaker in his own way, always looking out for those around him, offering his love, steady presence, and support to family and friends.
Gary departed this life on Thursday, January 23, 2025, at his home.
He leaves to cherish his memory his daughters, Marissa West and Rachel Medlock; his sisters, Beth Ann Hunter (Medlock) and Jacqueline Medlock; eight grandchildren and great-grandchildren; four nieces, two nephews, and a host of friends and loved ones.
Gary will be deeply missed but fondly remembered for his dedication to his family, his service to his country, and the kindness and wisdom he shared with those around him.
