George Delaney Gordon, Jr., passed away at KU Medical Center on Saturday, July 4, 2026, at the age of 66. He was born on March 11, 1960, in Kansas City, Kansas to George Gordon, Sr., and Viola J. Gordon. Both parents preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by one son Braxton Woods (Loretta); five sisters Georgette Gordon, Letitia U. Gordon, Josiella M. Hill, Charlene Wilson, Nancy Goff; and grandmother Viola Johnson Porter.
George, affectionately known as Junior or JR, graduated from Westport High School. While incarnated, he received his Master’s degree in Auto Mechanics. He was a self-employed mechanic and tow-truck driver. Junior was a true salesman and entrepreneur. He truly loved all things automotive; cars were his passion!
George rededicated his life back to Christ at Fellowship Right Baptist Church in Kansas City, Missouri, and was baptized on June 1, 2025, by Pastor Lawrence Nevels, Sr. While residing in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, he attended The Spiritual Israel Church and Its Army under Elder David Torrence.
Junior leaves to cherish his memory three sons Churon E. Elam, George Gordon, III, and Jacobe Woods, Sr.; two daughters Nicole C. Davis and Tania Gordon; three grandsons Jacobe Woods, Jr., Jaylen Woods, Jayden Woods; five granddaughters Nikia Porter, De’Arica Wright-Davis, Na’Ryiah C. Davis, Asa E. Elam, and Avery Woods; Eight sisters Linda Pouncil (Bernard), Juanita Gordon, Hatty Hicks (Ernest), Melody Harris (Roy), Doreatha Rivers (Jessie), Jewell Curtis, Regina Torrence (Cecil), and Trinette Gordon; Two brothers Alfred Gordon and Ray Gordon; an uncle Alvin Porter (Helen); special friend and caregiver Eve Stewart and her two daughters Victoria and Danielle; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
