James Smith, age 82, passed away peacefully at his home in Kansas City, Missouri, on November 14, 2025. He was born on May 26, 1943, in Louisiana to the late Simon Smith Sr. and Melvina Bryant.

James built a proud and steady career with the historic Muehlebach Hotel, where he served as a Steward and Cook for many years. His strong work ethic, warm presence, and dedication to his craft left a lasting impression on colleagues and all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings.

James leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish his memory: his children, Dirk Hall, Eric Hall, Andria Trigg, and Semaj Jones; along with a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members.

James will be remembered for his kindness, humility, and the quiet strength he carried throughout his life. His legacy lives on in the hearts of those who loved him.
