Janice Denise Brooks was born on January 3, 1959 in Mound Bayou, Mississippi to Essie
B. Brooks and Cleavester Braugher who preceded her in death.
The family moved to Kansas City, Missouri in 1960. Janice grew up in Kansas City, Missouri and attended Mary Harmon Weeks Elementary School and she attended Paseo High School and later transfered to Central High School where she graduated in 1977.
Janice worked many jobs in her life and shes been retired for over 6 years.
She leaves to cherish her memory her daughters Natisha Brooks, Sheretha Matlock, her mother Essie b. Walker, three brothers Cleavester Brooks, Terry Brooks (wife) Kim Brooks of KCMO, Ralph Braugher (wife) Glenda Braugher of Danbury, CT. two sisters Annette Braugher, Iris Braugher of Danbury, CT., aunt Shirley Connor of Los Angeles, CA, one special nephew Cleavester Brooks Jr., her grandchildren Keiondre Brooks, DarylNeisha Burns, DarylMico Burns, Kaliyah Garrett, RiKell Davis, RiKiaha Davis, six great grandchildren, her life partner Maceo Grayson of 27 years all of KCMO, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Janice and her brother Boe would often go to Clarksdale, Mississippi to spend the summer with their grandmother Laura Braugher and attended many family reunions throughout their life. Traveling back and forth from Kansas City to Mississippi. Riding horses, pigs, cows, playing with the chickens and swinging on grandmothers swing. We loved when our cousins from Chicago came to spend the summer in Mississippi. Cheryl, Denise, Bonita and many other cousins who also lived in Mississippi.
Janice Hobbies were running track, playing basketball, and karate while growing up. She loved playing with her grandchildren who she truly loved. Janice was a big Kansas City Chiefs Fan, Kansas City Royals, Kansas City Kings Basketball Team, Community Activist and Community Member.
She will be missed endlessly.
