IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Marcus Eugene
Swift
December 21, 1989 – July 16, 2024
On this brutally cold and windy day of December 21, 1989. Carl Swift and Dana McKenzie were blessed with the cutest feistiest chubby cheek baby boy you’ve ever seen. Marcus Eugene Swift or Gray as we affectionately called him. Came into this world unexpectedly kicking and screaming. I should have known then that he would be forced to be reckoned with.
Gray grew up in Kansas City, Missouri and attended school in the Kansas City School District.
Gray held many jobs ranging from fast food, warehouse, hotels, waste management, to home remodeling.
Gray was so full of life. He marched to the beat of a different drum. He did and said what he wanted and was always laughing, joking with family, or singing and dancing. Especially while getting ready for work. It would be 5 or 9 in the morning and Gray is singing. I don’t know how many times I had to tell him “It’s too early” He would always say “my bag momma” and keep singing.
Then Gray started rapping. That’s when Mookiey was born. He changed his name so many times Mookiey, Mookiey Da General, Mookiey the spitter, Big Daddy Mook-Mook, to Mook Mook. He rigged up a booth, made the beats, was the producer, and made the CD covers.
But out of all the jobs Gray has had his passion was home remodeling, because he loved working with his hands. Ever since he was younger, he has always tinkered with something.
Gray was slowly but surely buying the tools he needed, putting his portfolio together, designed business cards, applied for his business license and even had a name for his business “Swift Improvement LLC”
Unfortunately, before Gray could get this business started, he fell very ill and was called home on July 16, 2024.
Gray lived by his grandpa’s motto “Make Money Stay Drunk and Have Fun. And If You Can’t Do That, Get Yourself Out the Way”.
Gray is proceeded in death by Carl Swift (Father), Bryan Wesley McKenzie-Swift (Brother), Jahron Lee Swift (Brother), and Connie McKenzie-Kyles (Grandmother).
He leaves behind to cherish his memories, Dana McKenzie (Mother), his sons Zan’dell Alexander, Marcus Swift Jr., Jaycion Swift, Mauriel Vaughn, his daughters Casiara and Casley Francis, brother Mike Johnson, and God father Rodney Johnson.
