Carl Victor Carter, 88, of Kansas City, MO, passed away on Wednesday, February 23, 2022. Carl was born in Millerton, OK, to Willie Carter and Virgie Cherry, on September 12, 1933. He was one of 12 siblings.
After graduating high school in Oklahoma, Carl moved to Kansas City in the early 1970’s and spent the rest of his life here. Before retiring, almost 20 years ago, Carl was a maintenance manager for Anchor Properties, and enjoyed his work very much. In 1976 , he met Joyce M Baker, and the two were married on May 24, 1981. Sadly, Joyce passed in 2010.
Carl was an amazing father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He loved spending time with his family and he would do anything for them. Carl enjoyed fishing, riding boats, camping, and really anything outdoors. His children and family have so many fond memories of their time spent with Carl, hearing his stories, his invaluable advice and knowledge, and just enjoying the presence of such a phenomenal, loving man.Carl also enjoyed going to the casinos, especially in Las Vegas, and he attended Truvine Baptist Church, where he nurtured his strong faith and love of God.
Carl was a loving, wonderfully supportive husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, to all who knew him. He truly cherished all the time he was blessed to have with the entire family, especially with his grandchildren, who were more important to him than anything.
Left to cherish Carl’s memory are his loving children, Carlene Victoria Carter, Virgenia Yvonne Salaam, Carla Rene Carter, Charles Victor Carter, Karlos Robert Carter,and Carletta Victoria Kincade; his right-hand-man, Bobby Harris; his 18 grandchildren, Eric, Tiana, Jerica, Taneshia, Cameron, Charles Jr, Carl “C.C.”, David, Carlysha, La’Shawna, Jovon, Vincent, Desheanna, Ivyonne, Karl Jr, Jay Jr, Jaleel, and Janae; 28 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and dear friends.
Carl was preceded in death by both parents, his wife, Joyce; 11 siblings; and his son, Jay Dudley Carter.
