Jamiel Patrick Batiste

Jamiel Patrick Batiste was born on December 11, 1977, in Galveston, Texas. He was the sixth child born to the union of Mary and James Batiste Sr. 

He was raised in Kansas City, Missouri and obtained his education within the Kansas City School district. Jamiel was an electrician by trade; however, he was a jack of all trades. He loved fishing, working on cars and cooking. Jamiel was a Kansas City Chiefs fan and loved watching football. 

Jamiel held many titles in his life, but his favorite role was being a father. He loved nothing more than spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was their number one fan, always there to offer his love, support, and encouragement. 

Jamiel fought his battle against cancer for a few years. Despite spending much of that time in and out of the hospital, he never lost his faith. Throughout his entire journey, he had a great ability to make others smile and his sense of humor will be greatly missed. 

Jamiel was preceded in death by, Lorne Maybon, Chris Shaun Franklin, Genie Howard III, Del’von Landrum, and Brandon Smith.

He leaves to cherish his memories his parents, Mary Batiste, James Batiste (Jackie); siblings: Monica (Thomas) West, Marsha Batiste, Monia Batiste, James Batiste Jr., Jonathan Batiste, Sr. (Christina), Mahogany Batiste, Janice Foster (cousin), Verlin Hill, Valencia Hill, Nathan Grant, Arianna Batiste, John Batiste and Dawn Batiste; children: Cierra Roper, Jamiel Batiste Jr., James Batiste, Jamiela Batiste, Jamal Batiste, Jamier Batiste; grandchildren: Kingsley Roper, Kairo Heron-Boone, Cataleya Heron-Boone, Adonis Batiste, Jamarion Batiste, Bri’Ella Wright and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
