Marty Young, Sr. Obituary

Marty Young Sr., a man whose presence was just as prominent as his powerful, resonant voice. A man who could walk confidently into a room and command attention. A man who spoke with authority and intention. A man who could never be forgotten.

Born to George Caldwell and Lillian Young on September 13, 1961, in Marvell, Arkansas, Marty or “Mah-ty", as known by loved ones, was the eldest of seven children. As a child, he was very responsible and always willing to learn something new. He was raised in Kansas City, MO where he graduated from Southeast High School. Shortly after, he received his Commercial Driver’s License to be a truck driver. After experiencing many jobs, he was able to have a successful career as an HVAC/R technician in heating and cooling for the remainder of his life.

Marty was known for being a straightforward charismatic leader. He would take charge of any situation without a moment’s hesitation. He was a fun-loving person and at times a jokester, but he was also one to not take disrespect lightly. Marty'sexterior seemed to be very serious and stoic, but his family knew him as loving and caring. His loving nature was often reflected by rescuing animals. He held a soft spot for dogs so much that he made sure everyone around him owned a dog too.

Marty's greatest accomplishment was his family. There was nothing in this world that meant more to him than his children. Through his actions, he instilled in them the values of hard work, protection, and providing for their families. Marty found the love of his life, Pamela Ross, in 2005; and from then, they’ve shared a lifetime of love.

Marty's presence was so grandiose that his legacy lives on through his children: Marty Young Jr. (Sherry) two children, Jamar Young (Jamise) three children, Ashley Young (LaTorya) bonus five children, Pamela bonus three children. His memories are reprised by his siblings: Teresa, Linda, Anthony, Ruby, Mildred, Denise, Clyde, Betty, and Stanley. His impeccable reputation will be represented by his uncle: Ledell “Beau". And his loving nature will continuously be expressed through all his grandchildren, bonus grands, great-grandchildren, bonus greats, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

On November 9, 2023, Marty was reunited with his father, George; mother, Lillian; brothers, Maurice, Derrick, and John; sister, Margaret; and his nephew, Edwin Jr.

Marty will be remembered by the best way he expressed his love: his willingness to help, but also by his long-winded lectures on how to do better next time. His voice will live on forever.
